The Portuguese company Polisport developed a container for cyclists with plastic from renewable sources Apinat, and the bottle was made using bioplastic Apinat, from the Italian manufacturer API. In the case of Polisport packaging, Apinat behaves like a polyolefin suitable for contact with food (such as PE or PP), but with a special advantage, since it degrades under controlled compost conditions.

Apinat is certified as biodegradable in an aerobic environment, according to EN 13432, EN 14995 and American standards ASTM D6400. But in addition, Apinat comes from renewable sources that reduce CO2 emissions.

Polisport has already produced thousands of biodegradable containers with Apinat in extrusion blow molding machines without the need to adapt them.
