They are Melipal Blend and Melipal Cabernet Franc Melipal Blend is the first cut of this winery and consists of 61% Malbec, 31% Petit Verdot and 8% Cabernet Franc. To make the blend, each variety was made separately and aged in barrels, and then the best barrels were cut. Deep purple color, almost black, the nose is complex and very intense, with raspberry and a hint of spice. Chocolate and vanilla are mixed.
On the other hand, Melipal Cabernet Franc has an intense cherry red color. The nose is very intense and persistent, with aromas of paprika, cherry and fruit jams. Also some vanilla. In the mouth it has a persistent body, a sensation of spiciness and length with a touch of spiciness, vanilla and toast.
“Melipal Cabernet Franc comes from a small plot of our estate. This variety is still little explored in Argentina and we think there is a consumer who may be interested in learning about new varieties,” said Clarisa Aristi, brand manager and winery owner. And he added, “with the Melipal Blend we want to show versatility in our portfolio and propose a first cut where some of our varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot take center stage.”
Melipal Blend and Melipal Cabernet Franc, along with the entire Bodega Melipal portfolio, are sold by Lutecia Américas in select restaurants and wine bars in the country at $95 and $75, respectively.
