FEMSA announces changes in its management for 2023

The Monterrey company announced that effective January 1, Ian Craig will replace John Santa María as the company’s president, which has been approved by the Board of Directors.

The move is part of the succession planning process that is bottling plant of Coca-Cola products carried out in advance, the company reported in a statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange.

John Santa María Otazua joined Coca-Cola FEMSA in 1995. Since then, he has held various management positions, including Director of Mexico Operations and Director of Business Development and Strategic Planning. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management and a master’s degree in finance from Southern Methodist University. Since 2014, he has held the position of general director of the company.

“John was instrumental in leading Coca-Cola FEMSA through a profound operational and digital transformation that positioned the company to create long-term, sustainable value and expanded the company’s geographic reach across multiple territories,” the company pointed out in a press release.

FEMSA’s new administration in the spotlight

Ian Craig has a 28-year history with the company. Since 2016, he has been the CEO of Coca-Cola FEMSA Brazil, achieving notable results in every phase and aspect of the business.

FEMSA will also make changes in its other business branches. Starting next January, Alfonso Garza Garza will step down from his position as CEO FEMSA strategic companies and that position will be taken by Constantino Spas Montesinos, the current Chief Financial Officer of Coca-Cola FEMSA.

Constantino’s role at Coca-Cola FEMSA was fundamental to the company’s progress and strategic direction. “His appointment reflects FEMSA’s vision and belief in the great opportunities afforded by the cross-fertilization of talent between its business units,” the company said.
