The fair has announced that it is reorganizing its offer, reflecting the main markets of the food and beverage industry, and will check the growth opportunities that innovation and gastronomy offer the sector. In line with its 40th anniversary, Spain’s Alimentaria fair will be celebrated from April 25 to 28 at Fira de Barcelona, its most international edition, which attracts companies and buyers from all over the world to promote exports and access to new markets for the almost 4,000 companies represented at the event, from 50 countries.
2016 Food It will be structured in five rooms: Intervin (wines and strong alcoholic beverages), Intercarn (meat and derivatives), Restaurama (restaurants), Interlact (dairy products and derivatives) and Multiple Foods (sweets, preserves, oils and premium products for multiple products ). This is to show market trends, strengthen the positioning of the fair in catering and gastronomy, and facilitate the visit of employees of distribution, sales channels and imports of food and beverages who come to the fair in search of suppliers and new products.
In order to increase the attendance of international visitors, Alimentaria will directly invite more than 800 selected customers to schedule business meetings with the exhibitors. Registration for the “Hosted Buyers” program is already open through the fair’s website to attract key professionals in markets in Latin America, Asia, the United States and Canada, Europe and the Middle East who are interested in purchasing specific products.
At the same time, other sectoral entities and Spanish public administrations promote business meetings that attract international buyers to the fair. This is the case of Food & Drink Business Meetings, organized by FIAB, ICEX and Magrama, or Brokerage Event. The power of gastronomy in promoting Spanish food products will be showcased in The Alimentaria Experience, a large space for activities, demonstrations and workshops culinary famous chefs with Michelin stars and young chefs on the rise. For its part, innovations, trends, launches as well as conferences, congresses and conferences will be in The Alimentaria Hub, a large area of food knowledge that also includes entrepreneurship and technology.
Alimentaria is one of the world’s leading fairs of the food industry. In the last edition, it gathered 3,800 companies (one thousand international) and 140,000 visitors, of which 42,000 were from outside Spain.
