They have further improved the performance of their current Loctite adhesives in high temperature and humidity conditions. Henkel has developed new formulations that have further improved the performance of their current Loctite adhesives in high temperature and humidity conditions.
Loctite 401, Loctite 406, Loctite 454 and Loctite 495 instant general purpose adhesives now cure faster (7 to 30 seconds depending on product) and maintain higher temperature strength, up to 120ºC. The new formulations cure on dry or acidic surfaces and reliably adhere to a variety of materials, including metals, high-density plastics (such as polypropylene, polyethylene and PTF) and elastomers.
Fade-free glass and acrylic
On the other hand, the current adhesive Loctite 460 is the first product with low odor, does not fade and maintains bond strength in high humidity environments, while providing resistance to temperatures up to 93ºC.
This technology is ideal for applications where the aesthetics of the final product are critical (such as acrylic and glass work), as it minimizes the formation of whitish residue or fogging that sometimes develops at the join line of traditional instant adhesives (known as “bloom”). In addition, the minimal odor makes this formula the best option for application in closed spaces or areas with little air circulation.
