Consumers are looking for hot drinks ready to go out. To meet this need, SIG has developed aseptic microwave-safe boxes. The new Heat & Go package does not contain aluminum and can be heated in a vending machine, shop, cafe, home or office.

In 50 countries, demand for hot beverages is likely to grow by 15% in value and 22% in volume between 2014 and 2019, according to GlobalData research.

A SIG survey in China revealed that 72% of consumers are not satisfied with current heating methods for mobile products and are looking for new ways to heat quickly and conveniently in line with their lifestyle.

Ali Kaylan, vice president of global marketing at SIG, commented that the new Heat & Go high-barrier aseptic box can be heated in a microwave oven, enabling the launch of innovative nutritional hot beverage brands and products in new channels and categories.

โ€œHeat & Go offers beverage protection and can be produced on existing SIG bottling machines with a simple upgrade. By replacing the aluminum foil with a high-barrier film and pigment, the packaging protects the product from oxygen ingress, flavor migration, light and water. It is ideal for non-carbonated drinks, low-viscosity juices and liquid dairy products.

The study highlights that, globally, 48% of consumers are concerned about their digestive health and prefer hot drinks to cold ones.

About 78% consider hot drinks good for the stomach, and 31% think they help digestion.

Research shows that around 64% of consumers consume food and drink to relax and enjoy a drink such as hot chocolate.
