International. – The Kingsford brand has decided to use Advantino’s aluminum tray packaging for its pre-cooked ribs. The packaging extends the shelf life of the product by more than four months.
The 15-inch, 17-inch and 19-inch aluminum pans with smooth sides have been developed specifically for the Kingsford brand.
According to information from the company, the ribs were packed in a plastic bag, which was not of much use to consumers because it did not ensure a long shelf life of the product.
Together with the slow cooking method and vacuum sealing, the pre-cooked ribs manage to have a shelf life of 145 days.
Miguel Campos, Advanta Export Sales Manager, said: “What we have created is the first of its kind on the market. Since launch, other manufacturers have seen what we’ve produced and want the same shelf-life potential for their own ready meals.”
The executive explained that the packaging is more expensive than a plastic bag, but consumer comments have been positive and this allows them to project a 40% increase in sales in one year.
