Stevia helps to reduce calories in the baby’s diet

The good news is that between 1999 to 2000 and 2005 to 2008, the percentage of daily calories coming from added sugars decreased. However, children still consume many calories from these sugars, more than is generally recommended.

On average, boys consume about 360 calories from added sugars, compared to 280 calories for girls. Adolescent boys consume approximately 440 calories from sugar, nearly ½ cup each day, and adolescent girls consume 314 calories from sugar.

It is obvious that boys usually consume more calories than girls, so they also eat more sugar. Expressed as a percentage, boys consume 16.3% of daily calories from added sugars, and girls 15.5%. The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend consuming between 5 and 15% calorie from a combination of added sugars and fat, which would mean no more than 7 or 8% of calories from added sugars, about half of what children currently consume.

It is interesting to note that food contributed approximately 20% more added sugars to the diet than did beverages. Almost six out of every ten calories of these sugars come from food, while the rest comes from drinks.
